Environmental Issues

 Preamble 

Environmental issues are a major challenge to politicians worldwide with no apparent solution in sight. Many environmental problems originate locally and therefore initiatives and solutions to address the situation must involve the local communities. Some of the dilemmas puzzling environmentalists are: - 

• What is the desirable ratio between the aspiration for economic development, industrial development, solving employment and poverty problems and the aspiration for maintaining a proper level of environmental quality?

•  Is there a conflict between ecology and technology? Can one assume that the technological development that caused the ecological problems will also find the solutions that will enable their co-existence?  

Objectives 

• To improve the cleanliness of urban environment,




• To enhance capacity in environmental health management,   



• To encourage urban stakeholders to play a major role initiating and and and implementing sustainable local environmental action programmes.  



• To evaluate urban environmental problems, and 



• To build environmental policy development capacity within  UCAZ and its members
